Wednesday Rants: March 2016 Edition
Greetings Fellow Readers! Welcome to another round of random ranting. I have an extremely important thing to discuss to kick thing off. So let's being.
[Arcana Magi Memorial Vol. 4 and Vol. 6 Problem]
For those of you who read the Vol.6-c.3, you may have noticed something familiar in the final scene...
...and the answer is yes, I did copy past the opening scene in Volume 4 and pasted it to the final scene in Vol.6-c.3.
The reason why I did this, I'll have to put into context first a quick thing in the past. If you have read any of my 'Thoughts on Writing' or earlier 'Rants' from years ago, (the articles are still here) I've made very clear that 'Arcana Magi' is more of my training story to experiment, learn and improve on writing. That has never changed to this day. So 2 years ago, in Vol.4, I decided to try the storytelling approach of opening with a future-sight, then roll back the story "3Weeks Earlier". What I did not expect was how long it would take me to get that opening point. I just reached it in Vol.6, plus a lot of time has past in-story. Not only that, but over these past 2 years as I continued writing, I felt the whole "3 Weeks Earlier" mechanic was not very good as a method of storytelling, plus I sacrificed a very powerful scene very early. I should have built towards what was in Vol.6-c.3 organically.
So, I have decided that when I do the rewrites later this year, I am going to remove that scene from Vol.4 all together, and for now, have that scene sit where it belongs. This is a good learning experience for me and I learned that it is better for me to build towards a powerful scene instead of trying to be flowery and cute with it.
I apologize for the inconvenience.
[Arcana Magi Game]
The Arcana Magi Deck Building Game is currently in proof of concept stages now. The original plan for the game's design was not fun to play with and I had to scrap it before I blew my brain apart. Originally it was going to be a pure Co-op game with an "A.I." opponent but after playing some Deck Building Games with this type of mechanic as part of my research, I felt it did not fit into 'Arcana Magi' the way I envisioned it. So I am now redesigning the game to be versus Deck Building Game with up to 4 players. However, the ideas I have for the game mechanics - and the sheer size of the game - has prompted me to develop a different deck building game using a couple of 'Arcana Magi's' game mechanics. Keep in mind that I am using over 6 seasons worth of stories into this game and make sure it all fits into the context of the story as well. This other deck building I am working will serve as a base template and learning tool to improve upon Arcana Magi and make it the deck building game that I want it to be. It's not that major of a setback, but the deck building game genre is a very dense pool publishing wise. There are tons of this stuff and only a select few are considered really big. I want 'Arcana Magi' to set itself apart from the Dominion and Star Realm clones and be its own unique game.
[Splatterbomb™]
No you may have noticed in the 'NEWS and NOTES' that there is no T-Shirts being released this month. Well the game's card lore has changed. There are Items and Characters but their titles are adapting to the growing changes of the cards as I near the end of development. The "End Game' where the final round takes place and a winner is decided has gained momentum, but there is always a small snag that is keeping it from being a complete game. The problem is that game ends with Player 1 always winning 99% of the time. So the cards where the Items and Character are used in, keep changing as a result. So I decided to but stay on the T-Shirts until the cards are perfected and the prints can reflect what is on the cards. Chances are that when that is all done, I will be updating the shirt prit to reflect the new changes. It may not be much, but the context is what is changing drastically.
Also, there will be another NYC-Playtest Session this Saturday at Brooklyn Game Lab in Brooklyn New York for those of you interested in playtesting tabletop games currently in development. I will be bringing Splatterbomb and the new deck building game I am working.
Make sure to swing over to iTunes or Amazon.com and grab yourself a copy of 'Peanut Butter Jelly [Splatterbomb™ Theme]'.
So that is all I have on my mind right now.
Thank you for listening to my rants.
Until next time...
See ya.

Wednesday Rants: February 2016 Edition
Greetings Fellow Readers! Welcome to another round of Wednesday Rants! It's brief but let's get started.
[Splatterbomb™]
So the big news is that I got the end game to work. Basically, Player 1 was always the winner, but this time I got another player to win the game. So now I am building on that momentum to get different winners consistently. However, the play time increased from 45 Mins to 60 mins and I have to get that time shave off in order to keep players from getting bored. So at this point, I am nearing the homestretch and I should get this on submission block hopefully soon.
This weeks T-shirt releases will be humans again. Help try and diversify the characters from the game. I will be updating their little info boxes at a later date to help give the characters and the Splatterbomb™ series some story lore.
I'm still trying to find some avenues to get Peanut Butter Jelly (Splatterbomb™ Theme) some more exposure. It's been pretty overwhelming dealing with a lot of stuff around, especially real life stuff.
[Arcana Magi Universe]
I hope you guys enjoyed 'Arcana Magi Pure Vol.6'. This season of 'Arcana Magi' has been feeling inconsistent due to convention scheduling and real life issues, and I personally felt that I did the best I could under such circumstances to make it enjoyable and interesting. As I said in the last Rants, I do want to do some re-writing later this year on 'Arcana Magi' to clean up stuff and make it more stronger.
As for 'Arcana Magi Memorial', I think I can end the series this season with the tone I set in Vol.6. I really feel its time for me to wind down the Universe story wise. Going into a 7th Season is a very daunting feat and I would like to write other stories outside 'Arcana Magi' as well. 7 Seasons feel right.
The 'Arcana Magi' Deck Building Game is doing fine so far. Preliminary tests show that the game is feasible and new original elements and characters are being added into the game. I might be able to bring light to these new characters in the 7th Season, but it too early to tell right. I still have to make the game mechanics work proper before I can establish a story. But I can confirm that this is a 5th World Story and a major crossover, that I can say is absolute.
-So that's all I got on my mind this month. It's getting pretty hectic because real life changes are starting to swing hard in my direction. Hopefully, it will not result in any delays or slow down my ability to get stuff done.
Thank you all for listening.
Until next time...
See ya.

Wednesday Rants: January 2016 Edition
Greetings Fellow Reader! Welcome to the first round of ranting for 2016. I'm going to discuss a little of what will be on tap for this year.
[Splatterbomb™]
-Splatterbomb has reach a point where the end game is still being worked on. It's looking good so far, but it is going to take awhile longer than I expected. The card that are going to be part of the game is undergoing rewrites. Its coming off as a trading card game card rather than a board game card. So once I straighten that out, along with teh end game to decide a victor, it should be submission ready.
-Don't forget that Peanut Butter Jelly (Splatterbomb™ Theme) is still available on iTunes, Amazon, Spotify, Youtube, Catapult, and Bandcamp. Be sure to grab yourself a copy today.
-Splatterbomb t-shirts are still available on Spreadshirt.com, the next two characters this week will be the first human characters to be released. Also the lore that appears in the Spreadshirt descriptions will undergo an update later this year.
-The Splatterbomb Comic Book that I would like to write this year will just be an 8 Page short. I would like to have it ready by Free Comic Book Day in May, but its not feasible. Instead, I want to get it ready as free handouts at conventions and other events I may attend this year.
[Arcana Magi]
-So next week will be the conclusion of 'Arcana Magi Pure Vol.6'. I hop you all enjoyed this edition. I understand it may not be well written, but it was difficult navigating it between the conventions and real life issues. But I hoping that I can cover a few inconsistencies that I discovered looking back at the older Volumes. I am also hoping that I covered the Plot Hole regarding Rumiko in Chapter 4.
-Next up will be 'Arcana Magi Memorial Vol.6' in February. Since there isn't any convention season, I should be able to write better this go around. But real life right now is handing me a pie in the face and I have to keep that in focus. Get yourselves ready though, this is gonna be a big Volume.
-As for the 'Arcana Magi Rush' comic book, I have adapted the short story into a complete 3 issue series. However, I do have to re-write it thoroughly so it can be clean and legible for I when send it out for submission.
-I would like to make it my goal to go back to the older stories and give them a re-write to clean up the grammar and storytelling. I'm sure what I will do with that re-write, but stay tuned for any official announcements regarding this endeavor.
-Finally, that special game I announced was to be playtested this past weekend is an official 'Arcana Magi' deckbuilding card game. Deckbuilding card games are sort of like a Trading Card Game, like my game 'Cyber Tactics', but instead of building a deck from a collection of cards, the cards are already made available from the start and you pay in-game costs to add a card to your deck and build it up. Its a little hard to explain, but there are plenty of Youtube videos that cover this genre. I would recommend looking into Star Realms, Ascension and Dominion to get an idea of where I am going with 'Arcana Magi'. I do have an official title for the game, but I'll announce that at a later date. So with 6 years of of written material, I have enough to create an 'Arcana Magi' tabletop game.
So basically, overall, I am focusing on 'Splatterbomb™'and 'Arcana Magi' for the entirety of 2016. I have a lot stories to write, games to develop, and merchandise to sell through at Spreadshirt, Amazon, iTunes, and Comic Books. I look forward to all of your support and patronage. Please enjoy all of my works for 2016.
This is gonna be a fun year.
Until next time...
See ya.

See ya.
