Wednesday Rants: November 2014

Greetings Fellow Readers! Welcome to another round of random ranting. So the time has finally come to announce that Special Project I have been talking about for the past couple of months. Let us begin.

PROJECT SPLATTER

So for those who have been following me the past couple of months, I have been playtesting my board game 'Spltterbomb'TM that I debuted at IGDA Game Demo Night in Hoboken, NJ and worked on at NYC-Playtest group. Well I have been making plans to expand on the game in the hopes of getting 'Splatterbomb'TM published once the prototype is fully playtested and the rules and game mechanics are ironed out. So what are the plans of Project Splatter? Well all of this was due to one little thing that I arranged which I will start with in the rundown of what involves Project Splatter.

[Peanut Butter Jelly (SplatterbombTM Theme)]

DISCLAIMER: Very sorry for the technical difficulties, apparently Blogspot has 100MB limit and the sample clip is over 400MB)

UPDATE: A little Movie Maker magic and BAM, sample clip of the 'Peanut Butter Jelly'. Enjoy.

This is what is making Project Splatter possible. Over the Summer, after having demonstrated 'Splatterbomb'TM at IGDA Game Demo Night, I had an idea for a song that popped into my head after visiting Peanut Butter & Co. in New York City. During the Game Demo Night I met a musician by the name of Alyssa Menes (portfolio.acmenesmusic.com), who does video game music and theme songs for YouTube Channels. Her link is on the sidebar "External Link Section". I wanted a theme song for my 'Prototype Presentation' of 'Splatterbomb'TM, so we collaborated and made this. So the plan is that Project Splatter is going to revolve around this theme song.

The song itself will be on sale at Bandcamp on Friday December 5th, 2014. Our Bandcamp Page is still under development, but the address is studiocoqui.bandcamp.com.

So make sure to pick yourself up a copy of Peanut Butter Jelly (SplatterbombTM Theme).

[Splatterbomb Short Stories on Kindle]

Next there will be Short Stories written on the world of 'Splatterbomb'TM. The plot will be focusing on the competition and base rules of the game. I have the plot written out in the game, so I will be building from there. I had thought about Fictionaut, but I feel Kindle is more stronger providing support in the games development, including building prototypes and purchasing game pieces with the Kindle revenue. I have yet to decide how many Shorts I will make available in one book, but I will make sure there is enough to justify a purchase. I will also put in the Kindle programs like Shell, so I can provide discounts from time to time.

[Splatterbomb Audio Books on iTunes or Audible]

With the Kindle comes the Audiobooks. I will be looking to set up Audiobooks of the 'Splatterbomb'TM Shorts Stories. Again just like Kindle, I don't how much I am going to put into one package, but it is decision that will probably be last second. Again with iTune and/or Audible, the revenue can help in the games development process. I am forgoing YouTube because from I am understanding, Audible and iTunes have exclusivity clauses and I don;t want to post an Audio Reading video if it causes me to lose my membership with both.

[Some Transparency]

I have thought of many avenues to go with this project the past 48 hours. One was using Patreon in conjunction with Fictionaut and Youtube, but like I have said before, there is something about Patreon that is enticing, but it makes me hesitant to jump into. It has that "Too good to be true" vibe, and one thing I have learned is that there is no such thing as easy money. I have seen people not use Patreon and achieve a level of excellence on the internet which proves that it can be done as long as one perseveres. In every sense of the word, being that I can write a story and create an audiobook as my Youtube have shown, I have come to the conclusion that I do not need Patreon to generate revenue.

Also, some events have recognized Amazon Kindle as professional level to attend their events and that may include iTunes/Audible. So I would to be able to upkeep that in order to attend those event and make networks connections. It also helps me with providing a little credibility amongst top professional companies.

There are plenty of plans for me to attain revenue, like merchandising, i.e. 'Splatterbomb'TM T-Shirts, comic books (Read Below), and buttons, which again can be possible if 'Peanut Butter Jelly (SplatterbombTM Theme)', SplatterbombTM Kindle Publishing and Audiobooks sell well. All this on top of getting the official 'Splatterbomb'TM board game in the hands of a publisher.

So I will be setting up schedule next month during 'NEWS and NOTES' regarding 'Splatterbomb'TM so stay tuned.

Now for other NOTES.

[Scheduling Pattern]

'Arcana Magi' Universe is underway. I thank all the readers who turned out for the 5th Anniversary Short Stories. I am glad that many of you enjoyed seeing your favorite characters in one setting. Due to Project Splatter the scheduling pattern is going to lengthen the 5th Season, which I hope makes some of you happy. So the scheduling pattern is going to work like this.

-1st Monday of the month: 'NEWS and NOTES'
-2nd Friday of the month: 'Arcana Magi'
-3rd Wednesday of the Month: 'Wednesday Rants'
-3rd Friday of the Month: 'Splatterbomb' Event; If necessary.
-Last Friday of the Month: 'Arcana Magi'

The 1st week of the month will be 'NEWS and NOTES' but it will also serve as time off for me. So I can get my brain rested up, give myself some time to work on things not related to 'Arcana Magi', and most importantly rest.

[Comic Books]

That's right I am throwing my hat into the comic books ring. I had a very successful New York Comic Con walking with Comic Book Editors, writer, artists, and companies. I joined ComicsExperience.com to help improve my script writing, however my finances went against me and I had to leave after one month. Again, buying 'Peanut Butter Jelly (Splatterbomb Theme)' and my books will really help out here.

Anyway, I highly recommend all who are interested in creating Comic Books to check Comics Experience out. They are very good. They are a nice community. And they are very helpful in the development of writers, artist, letterers, which ever field you are interested in.

So what have I done so far, well I have adapted 'Arcana Magi Rush' into a comic book as part of the 5th Anniversary and I am currently seeking Comics Company to publish it. It is 3 Issues in length and very exciting. I also am writing 'The Unsung Heroes Shadow Watch'. It's a superhero team comic. I drew the team emblem and written some Short Story Scripts and Issue #1 of the series. So I am also seeking out a publisher on that front. I will also write a script for 'Splatterbomb' but that will be much later.

This is a very exciting venture I am stepping into and I am looking forward to bringing my stories toe Comics crowd. I will be honest, writing a script is very hard. Part of writing a Comic Script is writing in present tense, and when you have written as long as I have in the past tense, it is very difficult to adjust to, but I am adapting well and am having fun with the writing.

So that is all I have in mind. Thank you for listening to my rants. Stay tuned on my Twitter feed, Facbook Events page, and here for all the schedules on 'Arcana Magi' and 'Splatterbomb'. Next Week will be the return of our first heroines of 'Arcana Magi Universe' with 'Arcana Magi Zero c. 1', it will be a 5-chapter short novel. So join me then.

Again please make sure to visit Alyssa Menes site at portfolio.acmenesmusic.com. The link will be on sidebar.

So that's all for the ranting,

Until Next Time...

See ya.
