Wednesday Rants: December 2015 Edition

Greetings Fellow Readers! Welcome to another round of, and last of 2015, the Wednesday Rants. Let's begin.

[Arcana Magi Pure Vol.6 - c.3]

The chapter is coming along fine, however, I am digging back a couple of volumes for continuity and I fear it may cause a delay Friday night. Stay tuned to Twitter for any schedule changes. I am pretty much trying to set up this Volume 6 for Volume 7 next year. I have not decided yet, but I may end Pure on Volume 7 for a total of 35 chapters. It's a long story but I do need to end this so I can move onto other stories I would like to write outside of 'Arcana Magi'. I will say, I fear it may end on a rush job if I do decide Volume 7 is the end, but I will make every bit an effort to make it worthwhile and exciting.

Next year in January, I will write Chapters 4 and 5 for 'Arcana Magi Pure' and move onto 'Arcana Magi Memorial Vol. 6' in February. 'Arcana Magi Zero' will not receive the 'Vol.' tag because the Short Stories already have that, so most it will have a letter or subtitle.

[Splatterbomb]

Board game: The game has progressed along nicely, however I still have endgame issues. It's pretty much the only thing that stands in the way. No matter which I try, either as a 'race' or through 'scoring' the game ends with either Player 1 winning, or players quitting because they can't catch up. This week is another NYC-Playtest session so hopefully I'll have this ironed out.

Peanut Butter Jelly (Splatterbomb Theme): Just a reminder that the official theme song is available on Spotify as well as Amazon and iTunes. You can also grab a copy at Bancamp. It's still there. If you want to see Splatterbomb characters, visit my Studio Coqui Youtube and see who's who in the game.

Spreadshirt: New shirts will pop up next year in January. I may start off with the Athlete character this time instead of the Enemies. Also, I will be working on updating the character lore since a lot has changed in the game, for now what is described of the characters is only temporary.

Future Plans: My next plan is to try to write an 8-Page Comic Book short. I have an idea of where to go to accomplish this. I'm not sure how soon I'll get the story out to pasture, but I would like to get it in development early next year and hopefully ready for distribution before the summer. What I want to do is offer free samples at conventions and events that Splatterbomb will appear in, just like how I hand out free 'Peanut Butter Jelly (Splatterbomb Theme)'. What I might do is write either a world building story or just one competition, either way it will be to establish the look of the game itself.

[Year End Reflection]

This has got to be the most eventful year ever for me. I never in a million years would have thought this was the end result. I kind of went full circle where I got to demonstrate Splatterbomb at the NYC Arcade in Microsoft in Midtown Manhattan hosted by Brian Chung's The Sheep's Meow and end my year with that same even but at NYU Game Center. In between all of that, I went to as much NYC-Playtest sessions improving on Splatterbomb, The Hudson Arcade in Hoboken hosted again by The Sheep's Meow.

Splatterbomb's development evolved to the point that it became a video game on a board game. It worked but proved too much for the human mind to intake and caused information overload. I major strip down of the filler rules and Splatterbomb became and efficiently working game with only one thing standing in its way to the publishers.

Convention season was upon us, I had heavy playtesting done at Metatopia in Morristown, NJ and ran booth at Game-A-Con Festival in Atlantic City. I got to do some comic book networking at New York Comic-Con as well. I got to meet a lot of amazing artists, writers, and game developers. it was fun hanging out with all of them.

It was big year for 'Arcana Magi' as the 5th season ran longer than it should, but releasing all the short stories on Kindle was nice finish. Now 6th season is upon us, albeit slower than usual, but the stories are starting to reach their apex with season 7 next year.

So with that, I thank the following for 2015:

Thanks to NYC-Playtest for all the help in Splatterbomb's game development.

Thanks to all the playtesters at Metatopia for their input on Splatterbomb.

Thanks to the organizers at Game-A-Con Festival for a nice event and providing Splatterbomb a booth.

Thanks to all the people who started following me this year on Twitter. I started with a very small number this year and made it into the 60s.

Thanks to Brian Chung and The Sheep's Meow for all their "Arcade" events throughout the year.

Thanks to all the artists, writers, and game developers I met this year at all the conventions and event, and who are now following me on Twitter. We had fun times and look forward to seeing you guys again in upcoming event in 2016.

Most of all, Thanks to all the fans of Splatterbomb and especially 'Arcana Magi'. I know my grammar is not up to standards, but the fact that you all come back to read more gives that extra flavoring to all the stories.

[Schedule]

I will be taking an holiday vacation. You will not hear from me until January 4th with the first 'NEWS and NOTES' of 2016.

You all have a Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, and a Happy New Year.

Until 2016...

See ya.

As the city is surrounded by mist, mysterious things start to happen that catches everyone off guard.

NOTES:

-Due to Christmas falling on Friday, there will be no releases that day. I thought about it putting it on Saturday or Thursday, but I feel too many people will be too busy with the holiday to sit and read Chapter 4, so January will be the month to finish off 'Arcana Magi Pure' with Chapters 4 & 5 and move onto the 'Arcana Magi Memorial vol.6'.

-'Splatterbomb™' at the NYC Arcade will just only be the board game and the official T-Shirt on display. There won't be any videos or other types of showcasing. There will be Free 'Peanut Butter Jelly (Splatterbomb™ Theme)' passes when you play a full game.

-I apologize for the missing links to 'Arcana Magi Pure Vol.6' they are now up on Blogspot and accessible to everyone.

That's all the 'NEWS and NOTES' for the month of December. It was another amazing year of releases and events. The next 'NEWS and NOTES' will be Monday, January 4, 2016.

- Game-A-Con Festival was a very well done for its first year. I had a good 8 successful playtests and some adjustments have been made. Wednesday Rants: November 2015 Edition

Greetings Fellow Readers! Welcome to another round of random ranting. We're half way through convention season and a lot of stuff are on tap so let's get started.

[Splatterbomb]

All right there is a lot to talk about so I'm gonna break them down as into bite sized morsels.

-Status: The board game has entered Beta Level now. I have the games victory condition finalized and established an Item Card Deck that will help the game assist players in achieving the end game without problems. In a sense, the game came back full circle from last year's 1st draft. It was a remarkable journey indeed. As of now, I went into Print and Play Admagic website, and was able to create a prototype fold-able game board. I gave it a full on playtest at Metatopia, more on that in a moment, and walk away with a stable and complete game. All that's left to clear out the optimization issue where Player 1 would always be the one to win the game, and balancing out the 30 card Item Deck.

-Metatopia: So Metatopia in Morristown, NJ was success. All the playtesters provided all the input and help I needed to straighten out Splatterbomb™. I would like to thank Metatopia for running the event. I wish I had everybody who participate in playtesting the board game so I could set up a thank you list.I wished I had thought of that over the weekend during playtesting. I really appreciated all they have done to make the game better and more focused.

-Gameacon Festival: So next stop is Gameacon Festival at the Tropicana Casino in Atlantic City, NJ. This will be my first ever Exhibitor Booth for Splatterbomb. Its a little weird considering that I am looking for a publisher. What they offered was not what i had expected, but considering the opportunity presented to me by the organizers I really did not want to dismiss so casually. As soon as I get my booth number, I'll post it up on Twitter. I will be providing discount passes for 'Peanut Butter Jelly (Splatterbomb Theme)' via Catapult. I will be exploring Discount passes for Spreadshirt, but I don't know if that would be possible, so don't get your expectations up. Unfortunately, Spreadshirt doesn't offer special bulk promotional amenities for me to take advantage of to create raffle drives. I would have to pay out of pocket to get the shirts and at this point, it will be too late to order them now to have on site.

-Spreadshirt: Speaking of Spreadshirt, I will be discontinuing the Spreadshirt and American Apparel brands of Splatterbomb T-Shirts and focus only on Gilden. Gilden is the cheapest price shirts at $13.00 by comparison. The change will happen this Friday. Also, this weeks characters will be Ashley and Guiey. Please check out the 'Peanut Butter Jelly (Splatterbomb Theme)' Roster Video on my Studio Coqui Youtube Channel to get a sneak peek of them.

-New Roster Additions: So if any of you have watched 'Peanut Butter Jelly (Splatterbomb Theme)' Roster Video, you most likely counted how many characters there are in the video. Well, thanks to the paytesters at Metatopia, that count increased by 9. There are now 9 new Items added to the roster bringing the overall total to 110 characters. I will not update the Roster Video, but I may create a separate video short introducing the nine new items. Because of these nine new Item Cards and changes made to their application, there will be a delay in added Items to the Spreadshirts because there are new categories listed for them outside of 'Item-Bonus' as labeled on the shirts. In the meantime I'll be focusing on releasing the artwork for the Athletes and Enemies that make up the bulk of the roster.

[Arcana Magi Universe]

I apologize for any slowness in the release of 'Arcana Magi' stories on Fictionaut. The convention season is very overwhelming and I need to maintain top priority on Splatterbomb in order to succeed. Most likely January, after the holidays is when I'll increase the frequency of releases. For now, it's just once a month.  And yes, because of these schedules, the grammar may be off putting due to time constraints. But please bear with me. I thank you all for your patience.

That's all I have on my mind for the moment. I have a lot of work to do and get ready for. I'll see you all next week at Gameacon Festival.

Until next time...

See ya.

Wednesday Rants: October 2015 Edition

Greetings Fellow Readers! Welcome to another round of random ranting. It's a short one this month. Lot's of stuff to do. So let's get the ball started.

[Splatterbomb]

So the board game nearing 100%. I finally got its footing and its working fine. I am looking at 15 to 45 minutes based on the number of players for a complete game.

There is going to more 'Splatterbomb' prints on Spreadshirt. There will be a total of over 90 characters. I do want them to be featured in the board game but I have to wait until I can get the running very smoothly.

'Peanut Butter Jelly (Splatterbomb Theme)' coming out this week on Youtube will feature images of all the 'Splatterbomb™' characters. So you will get a chance to see them all.

[Arcana Magi Universe]

Due to this and next months insane scheduling, 'Arcana Magi Universe' will be posted once per month until December. I can explain why that is in the next section. I have yet to decide what I'm goind to start off with, but what I can say is that I will be posting 3 'Arcana Magi' Stories this season.

[Conventions]

In Novemeber, I will be attending Gameacon at the Tropicana Casino in Atlantic City, NJ, and I awaiting on approval for Metatopia in Morristown, NJ. Splatterbomb will be showcased at both events. As to what I will bring in terms of amenities, that will be determined. However, Splatterbombwill be available for gameplay.

[New York Comic Con]

New York Comic Con came and went. It was a fun time, I went to plenty of workshops and meetups for business purposes, and I came out satisfied. I will be making a return next year.

That's all for the Rants this month. It is extremely busy and I have a lot of work to do.

Until Next Time...

See ya.

Wednesday Rants: September 2015 Edition

Greetings Fellow Readers! Welcome back to another round of Random Ranting. Vacation is over and the next 3 months is going to chaotic. But first let me rant about what's happening now and in the coming weeks.

[Splatterbomb™]

So first off, Peanut Butter Jelly (SplatterbombTheme) is now on Spotify. I also updated the links to iTunes Amazon and others on sidebar. Please go grab yourselves a copy. I do have so more plans, so please stay tuned.

The T-Shirt Line at Spreadshirt is growing. This weeks characters are:

Ron
Swift Wings

Splatterbomb Board Game hit a little snafu, but it is still progressing. It will be ready for demonstration Gamecon in Atlantic City in November. The snafu is that I tried using Algorithms to emulate the Arcade Experience, but it worked too good to the point that it forgot that it was board game first. I can still achieve the Arcade Theme, but it has to concede to being a board game. Hopefully, the middle ground will be there.

[Arcana Magi Universe]

Season 6 is going to start in late October, sandwiched between New York Comic Con and Gamacon. I'm going to run chapter every 2 weeks until after the NYC Arcade Event hosted by the Sheep's Meow in NYU Game Center New York. After that event in December, I will post a chapter every week.

This seasons Arcana Magi Stories are:

Arcana Magi Zero
Arcana Magi Pure
Arcana Magi Memorial

Be sure to buy a copy of 'Arcana Magi Universe Short Collection' on Kindle. Click on the sidebar link to the side.

I have completed 'Arcana Magi Rush' Comic book script. It's 3 issues, but there are still some thing I have to learn. Comic Book Scripts are a different beast from prose writing. I hope that I can find an artist or someone interested in publishing it, but I thought I share with you all that this is actually a thing.

[New York Comic Con]

NYCC is a few weeks away. I will be attending all 4 days. If you see me and want to shake my hand to say "Hi" feel free to do so. I don't bite. The convention runs fro Oct 8 - Oct 11.

[Free 'Shell' Fridays]

I haven't done this in a while. Since October is around the corner, I have to celebrate Halloween with another round of Free 'Shell' Friday leading up to Halloween on Saturday.

[NYC-Playtest]

NYC-Playtest will be at Brooklyn Game Lab this Saturday with new hours starting from 12:30 pm to 6:00 pm. Splatterbomb™ will be there for playtesting as always.

[Thoughts]

Half vacation helped out. Summer was nice and warm. So many things are happened between now and the end of December that I know I am going to burn out. I will endure as always.

Because some good things happened over the Summer, I shifted my scheduled releases to 10:00pm from now on to give myself breathing room to meet the releases on time. It feels a little weird becasue I am use to 9:00pm but this is for the best and very accomodating for all of you.

So that's all I have for the rants this month. Quick, short, and sweet.

Until Next Time...

See ya.

Wednesday Rants: July 2015 Edition

Greetings Fellow Readers! Welcome to another round of Wednesday Rants. There are some cool announcements so let's get started.

[Gameacon 2015]

This year I acquired an official exhibitors table at Gameacon 2015 in Atlantic City's Tropicana. I plan to bring Splatterbomb™ there, unless circumstances occur. It's happening in November and I am very excited to get a chance to showcase the game to a larger audience. As we get closer to the convention, I'll announce what to expect at the booth, so stay tuned.

http://gameacon.com/index.html

[New York Comic Con]

I will be roaming the halls of New York Comic Con once again in October. Unfortunately, I could not secure anything awesome like an autograph signing or a Panel, but if you happen to see me and want to chat up or take a picture, I'll be glad to offer it up.

http://www.newyorkcomiccon.com/

[Spreadshirt]

Next week will be the next duo of Splatterbomb™ characters up for grabs. I will also be adding American Apparel brand so you can have yourselves a nice quality shirt if you want to. Remember all shirts are available in Men's, women's, and kids sizes.

[Playtesting]

Splatterbomb™ playtesting is still continuing this Saturday and there should be a playtest next Saturday August 1, which is on a Saturday. Stay tuned to Twitter for any announcements.

[Vacation Time!]

It's been an amazing 12 months but now its time for me to take a break and breathe. Next month in August, I will be on vacation. There will be no 'NEWS and NOTES', no 'Wednesday Rants', no 'Free Shell Fridays', or any new releases. If not this month then in August I may make 1 Twitter announcement regarding 'Peanut Butter Jelly (Splatterbomb™ Theme) and the next NYC-Playtest is in September, so keep an eye out on Twitter. I will return September 7th with 'NEWS and NOTES'.

I will post up links on Twitter to Spreadshirt, Kindle, and any other products or events before August so you can just click away and check things out.

I will be on Twitter mode during vacation just in case any sudden events occur, but other than that, I am going dark until September.

So on a final note, thank you all for joining me these past 12 months. It was an amazing ride from 'Arcana Magi 5th Anniversary' to 'The NYC Arcade' to 'Spreadshirt'. Please enjoy yourselves and have a safe Summer.

Until September...

See ya.

Wednesday Rants: June 2015 Edition

Greetings Fellow Readers! Welcome to the June Edition of ranting. There is a lot on my mind this month so let's begin.

[Arcana Magi 5th Anniversary]

This is the final month of 'Arcana Magi's' 5th Anniversary. And what a journey this has been, starting back in October 2014. This week and next week will be last to chapter of 'Pure' for the year, and I will cap the anniversary off with the Kindle release of 'Arcana Magi Universe Short Collection', featuring all the short stories released on Fictionaut and two new unreleased Shorts 'Arcana Magi Bolt' and 'Arcana Magi Wisp'.

To address the Kindle release, this is mainly a financial decision. I need to make income and releasing a collection of works that can be viewed on Fictionaut is counterproductive. I'm not exactly financial stable here in the real world and I need to garnish money in some way. This world we live is unforgiving and not perfect. It was forgiving and perfect, releasing for free would be a given, but if I want progress my life, I have to make tough decisions for all of my works. I know I don't have to explain myself to anybody, but I want to do this as a courtesy and for understanding. So please help support 'Arcana Magi', and buy a copy of the short collection at the end of this month. I will keep 'Tales from Arcana Magi' on Kindle, so you have choices.

[Splatterbomb™]

First off, the NYC-Playtest was great as usual. The game has improved from its previous draft and is getting stronger. The core mechanics are still stable and the bolts getting closer to tightening.

Now to expand on this, I am now making moves for merchandising. I cannot disclose at this time like I would have wanted to, but nothing is set in stone yet. What I can say is that I have over 40 individual drawings of Splatterbomb™ registered in the Copyright Office and these drawings will make up the merchandising.

I am looking at creating laminated prints of the drawings to sell. I'm not sure which channel I will be using to sell them but that is one confirmed method. If should my registration to the NYC Arcade hosted by The Sheep's Meow go through, those prints will be available for viewing at my table.

Peanut Butter Jelly (Splatterbomb™ Theme) is making the move to iTunes, however there are still a few things that need to be cleared up before they appear in the store. I set the target date for Sunday, June 14, but I cannot declare it official until the song passes through the lot check. Once it is in the stores I have selected I will make a 'Quick NOTES' and list where you can get a copy. Stay tuned to Twitter.

I am also going to write a 'Splatterbomb™' story for release on Kindle. Please stay tuned for more details.

Finally, a reminder, since I placed the first official 'Splatterbomb™' merchandise, 'Peanut Butter Jelly (Splatterbomb™ Theme)' on Bandcamp, a commercial company where I receive profits, as per the guidelines laid out the United States Patent and Trademark Office of Arlington, VA, I, H-M Brown, am the owner of the Trademark Splatterbomb both standard font mark and drawing mark, under common law. Any usage of the word 'Splatterbomb™' without the express written consent of H-M Brown is strictly prohibited.

[Special Thanks]

I would to give a special thanks to the fine folks at FJB Comics and Games at 17 Coles Street in Jersey City for hosting the 'Peanut Butter Jelly (Splatterbomb™ Theme)' Spring Sale. I really appreciate their support. Check them out on Facebook at:

Well that is all I have on my mind. Thank you for listening to my rants.

Wednesday Rants: May 2015 Edition

Greetings Fellow Readers! Welcome to another to Wednesday Rants. Summer is around the corner and there are a lot of things on my mind.

[Arcana Magi Universe 5th Anniversary]

Well last Friday was the start of Volume 5 of the 'Pure' series. I was little worried given the last couple of Volumes. There are a lot of characters of course, but I feel confident that I got everything reigned in and I should be able to deliver a good Volume 5 this season. I do have to more stories planned. They're shorts, so I believe that the season will end in July. We'll see what happens, but in hindsight, I should have done the Shorts first then 'Pure' last.

[Splatterbomb™]

Now that I got life changes setteled down, I should be able to attend next months NYC-Playtest group and bring in 'Splatterbomb™'. During this time period, I made the game boards look more like an actual arcade screen, more or less. Just look at arcade games like 'Dig Dug' and 'Pac-Man' and that is kind of the game boards would look like. I intend to make it emulate the arcade experience, hopefully in both look and gameplay.

I am looking into iTunes to see if I can get 'Peanut Butter Jelly (Splatterbomb™ Theme)' there. Real life held me back from posting it on there, but now I think I can finally release it there, and none too soon.

Also I am exploring the possibility of signing onto 'Spreadshirt.com' to expand on merchandising 'Splatterbomb™'. I have drawn the official mascot and will use it as a t-shirt print. I'll probably also use 'Splatterbomb™' drawing title as well. But keep in mind this is just exploration research, there is no set timetable or final plans to make official 'Splatterbomb™' T-Shirts.

[New York Comic Con]

Tickets are on sale. I'm going to try again to see if I can get autograph. As always it is not guaranteed since again there are big stars there an they get top priority, but it doesn't hurt to try out.

[Kindle]

There will be a Kindle publishing this Summer. Probably sooner. I have not decided yet if I want to release 'Arcana Magi' again. Maybe compile all the short stories together, including 'Zero' trilogy even though I release it last year, or just do another 3 Short Set. Stay tuned for decisions.

[Swap Off]

When I decided to develop 'Swap Off', it was due to 'Splatterbomb™' needing time to ferment, because it was all over the place. The past few months I was able to finally get the game focused, including some artwork. While I'll need to do need playtest 'Splatterbomb™', I have decided set 'Swap Off' to the side so I can now push 'Splatterbomb™' forward. I thank all whom have playtested 'Swap Off' and appreciate all input.

[Peanut Butter Jelly (Splatterbomb™ Theme)]

Don't forge, you have until May 31 to head on over to FJB Comics and Games at 17 Coles Street Jersey City, NJ for 25% discount on 'Peanut Butter Jelly (Splatterbomb™ Theme)'. Check out FJB Comic and Games Facebook page for all the latest releases from your favorite comic books and video game companies.

That is all I have for now on my mind. There is a lot happening around me in real life, so I am in the middle of a regaining focus, both in mind and spirit. 'Arcana Magi Pure Vol. 5 c.2' is next Friday. Head over to Facebook for date and time. This Friday is Free 'Shell' Friday on Kindle.

Thank you all for listening to my rants.

Until Next Time...
See ya.

Wedneday Rants: April 2015 Edition

Greetings Fellow Readers! Welcome to the April Edition of Wednesday Rants. I got some extremely important news to talk about so let us begin.

[Posting my Stories on Fictionaut]

There are conversations going on between Fictionaut Members and the people in running the website. The conversation grew could in the Forum but is going in Facebook.

http://fictionaut.com/forums/general/threads/3368

There appears to be some decisions that could be made in the future, and chances are I may not agree with it. If I do not like the direction Fictionaut goes, I may walk and leave the site. That means I will also take all of my works on Fictionaut. If should I find myself leaving Fictionaut, I have no intention of looking for another website to post any of my stories on. I know there are many websites, even some decent ones that could cater to posting stories on the internet, but I really do not want to go through the whole process of re-posting 5 years worth of stories. This is NOT laziness, its that many things have happened since I joined Fictionaut from  pursuing Comic Book Companies to developing Tabletop Games, I do not have the energy to go through all that posting.

I don't know what I will do with all that work, maybe focus on turning some of them into Comic Books scripts like I did with 'Arcana Magi Rush', but it is still very very early right now with Fictionauts situation.

Nothing may even happen, but I felt that I should mention this now, right now, so that if any changes happen at Fictionaut occur and I make the choice to leave, that decision will not spring up on all of you all of sudden. You already know the situation. I hope I can stay on Fictionaut longer, this is a great pace.

[Arcana Magi]

'Arcana Magi Memorial Vol. 5-c.5' is coming to an end next week. I hope all of you enjoyed Azure's latest adventure. Next month on 'Arcana Magi's 5th Anniversary' will be 'Arcana Magi Pure Vol. 5'. I expect the 5th Anniversary season to end around June, Fictionaut notwithstanding. So please continue to enjoy the universe.

[Swap Off]

The game coming along fine. There isn't much to say at this time, but I do want to point out that my target audience is for families. I hope that I have accomplish that level. The characters I am using are family characters, mom, dad, children, grandparents, and so on. I did the artwork for the characters though I am unsure if they will be used in the final product. Swap Off is officially a card game for 2 - 4 Players. Protoyping will resume next month.

[Splatterbomb]

Rather than playtesing Splatterbomb™ this month, I decided to hold a roundtable discussion to get advice and help on the games direction and game mechanics. Thanks to NYC-Playtest.com, I have made decisions on where to focus the game at and its theme. Officially, I will be theming the game around Video Arcades. Here is an example via 'classicgamevideos' Channel on Youtube:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7mMJio2MO6w

I am targeting a 2-5 player, asymmetrical style, tactical game. The story and world building is set, I have the characters drawn out, and the artistic and aesthetics are leaning towards what you would see on an Arcade Machine. There are still some game mechanics that I need to test out before making any omissions, this will happen at Next Months NYC-Playtest on May 2.

[Free Spring Day]

Just a heads up this Friday April 17 is 'Free Spring Day'. 'Shell' on Kindle and Peanut Butter Jelly (Splatterbomb™ Theme) on Bandcamp will both be free for 24 hours. This is your chance to scoop both on a single day. Please enjoy.

Also be sure to check out Alyssa Menes Music Composer for 'Peanut Butter Jelly' at:

http://portfolio.acmenesmusic.com/

That's all I have on my mind for now.  Thank you all for listening to my rants.

Until Next Time...

Wednesday Rants: March 2015 Edition

Greetings Fellow Readers! Sorry for the lateness, welcome to the March Edition of Ranting. There are handful of stuff I need to talk about so let's begin.

[Peanut Butter Jelly (Splatterbomb Theme) Sale]

There are Discount Coupons made and currently available at FJB Comics and Game Store at 17 Coles Street Jersey City, NJ. Swing on by the shop and you'll find them in a Wooden Business Card Holder. The Discount expires May 31, 2015.

Link: https://www.facebook.com/FJBComics

So head on over grab yourself one.

[Splatterbomb]

I'll come out and say it, 'Splatterbomb' got big. After successfully breaking the optimization the game was experiencing , it resulting in an increase of size. I have to deal with balancing issues and since NYC-Playtest group is the only group in the region I can go to with ease and available, I am expecting a lot of months to deal with this new stage of development. See at NYC-Playtest, I only get to playtest 'Splatterbomb™' once, which means I don't get to see all of the new game elements that I have added, then I have to wait until next month for another chance. My finances are still tight, so going to far away places is still unattainable.

So I have to shift development at this time, because I want to get a game in the hands of publishers as soon as possible. Also, because 'Splatterbomb' got big, I am unsure if I can convince a publisher to pick up 'Splatterbomb' since I have publishing credibility to back me up. Being untested and unproven may make publisher hesitate to invest on a large scale game. This does not mean i dropping 'Splatterbomb', the development is continuing but it is not top priority. It's still going to make rounds at event and stuff, but it is not the end goal at this time.

But the following game will be...

[Swap Off]

'Swap Off' is small card game I built last week. It is the smallest game I have built thus far and has the potential to entice Publishers to invest in it if they are interested. I have to get the game through Playtesting which will be happening soon. 'Swap Off' is going to take top priority because it is so small. The rules themselves are only a single, that is how small the game is. I already did the artwork for the characters and I am hoping that I won't spend so many months playtesting it and that I won't have to face any type of balancing issues. I pray that I can submit this by June-July the latest. I'm looking at 60% of my time spent on this game. Because this is so small, I am looking at other Publishing places such TheGameCrafter.com, though given my status as a developer, I will probably be more focused on finding a professional Publishing Company so I can start up a portfolio.

[Comic Books]

This week I have been dealing with my comic books, I wanted to more on 'Arcana Magi Rush' so I can submit to a publisher, but I expanded on another comic book which originally was supposed to be just an 8 Page short, it turned into a full One-Shot issue, twice. I was able to break them down into short, but the way I wrote it gave me flexibility to submit as a full comic instead of a short. I am going to stay on top of this and get 'Arcana Magi Rush' done so I can submit.

[Arcana Magi]

Speaking of which, 'Arcana Magi Memorial Vol. 5 c.4' is going to be next Friday as Scheduled. Though looking at the last chapter, I felt I didn't put enough meat into the writing. It's all dialogue. I don't if its good or not, but I personally felt I should have done better. So with the set up in c.3 that I establish, I hope I can put in the meat of narrative to build up a nice tense situation.

I think that is all I got for now. Thank you for hearing me Ranting. Again I apologize for being late. I'll see you on Fictionaut next week.

Until Next Time...

See ya.
